Chekkalu



Ingredients:
  • Rice flour - 2 cups
  • Chopped onion - 1 small
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Channa dal - 4 tsp
  • Saggu biyyam (Sabudana) - 2 tsp
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
Method:

  • Soak channa dal and sabudana for 1 hour separately and drain the water
  • Grind green chillies into a fine paste
  • Mix all the above ingredients but oil and make thick dough by adding water
  • Take a plastic sheet and apply little oil on it
  • Make small round balls of the dough and press on a greased plastic sheet with your fingers to make small round sized puris
  • Heat Oil in a deep frying pan. When the oil is hot, fry these flattened pieces in batches until crispy golden brown
  • After frying them place on a tissue paper to absorb excess oil
  • Store in an air tight container
