Senaga Pappu Pachhadi


Ingredients:

  • Senaga pappu (Bengal gram dal) - 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Tamarind - small piece
  • Red chillies - 2-3
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
For seasoning
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chillies - 1
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Hing - pinch
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - few
Method:

  • Fry red chillies, senaga pappu in 1tsp oil till you get good aroma. Allow to cool.
  • Grind red chillies, senaga pappu, grated coconut, tamarind and salt.
  • Add little water and grind to chutney consistency
  • Heat a tbsp of oil, add urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, tumeric, curry leaves, hing and fry for few seconds
  • Pour the seasoning on the top of the chutney and mix well
  • Serve with Idli, Dosa and Upma
